Chef and owner Douglass Williams brings fifteen years of international culinary experience — from Paris to Thailand, New York to Nantucket — to his South End neighborhood. Named by Food & Wine as one of the Top 10 Best New Chefs in America 2020 and nominated for a James Beard Foundation Outstanding Chef award in 2022, Douglass leads with world-class ambition in a setting that always feels like home.

The Person Behind the Plate
Born in Atlantic City and trained across the globe, Douglass discovered his calling at 14 in a home economics class. Driven by curiosity and an early obsession with ingredients, he spent his youth methodically exploring vegetables, mushrooms, fish, and spices — building a palate that would eventually take him across three continents. "That opened the entire world to me," he says. "It was time to travel."
After stages in Vienna, Paris, and Thailand, Douglass landed in Boston in 2006 and recognized the South End as a neighborhood ready for something special. He opened MIDA with a simple conviction: world-class cooking should live in the neighborhood, not above it. He is not shy — if you come in, he will likely come say hello.
